Record Types in Salesforce

Update Record Types

The only editable attribute in the Record Types is the Active flag, which can only be maintained manually.
Record Types are not deactivated during package upgrade. Same applies to Record Type profile configurations (visibilities) configured by subscribers.


What’s updated by ZuppIO

  • All managed Record Types
  • The default Record Type (including Person Account Default) is reassigned if the source and target values are both managed and active
  • Record Type Visibilities for corresponding managed Record Types

What’s ignored by ZuppIO

  • Managed Record Types and visibilities which do not exist in the target org
  • Managed Record Types cannot be deactivated if they are default in the target org and the default value cannot be reassigned to another target Record Type

How to deploy Record Types

  1. Open Job
  2. Press New Step button
  3. Name your step
  4. Select Record Types type
  5. Choose what to deploy:
    • Select "All record types" to deploy all managed Record Types
    • OR choose "Select record types" to select specific Custom Objects from the list
  6. Check ‘Enable’ on Reassign Default checkbox if you want to reassign the default value
  7. Select 'On Error' action
  8. Save your changes
  9. Select your new step
  10. Select at least one Target org
  11. Choose action:
    • Press Validation to run job in checkonly mode
    • OR press Execute to apply changes without validation
